The Holiday of Purim has four special mitzvot (commandments):
Reading the Megillah: The Book of Esther is read in synagogue, both on the evening of Purim and during the day. This recounts the story of how the Jewish people were saved from Haman's plot.
Mishloach Manot: Giving food gifts to friends. This involves sending at least two types of ready-to-eat foods to at least one other person, fostering friendship and unity.
Matanot La'evyonim: Giving charity to the poor. It’s customary to give to at least two needy individuals on Purim, helping them celebrate the holiday.
Seudat Purim: A festive meal. It’s a mitzvah to have a joyful and celebratory meal with family or friends on Purim.
